Dewa Kipas and the whole chess thing

I just have to laugh. Some people could not believe that there is another person that is better than him/her. There’s a saying in Indonesia, “di atas gunung masih ada gunung.” Up above a mountain, there is another — higher — mountain.

The story is this. Dewa Kipas, an unknown person from Indonesia, beat a celebrity chess player in an online chess platform. He was then accused of using a bot or some sort of chess engine. Cheating. Ha ha ha. I just have to laugh. You don’t think that there is someone — or a nobody — that can beat that chess player? Perhaps the emphasis is on the “nobody.” I get it.

The thing is, Dewa Kipas account is then blocked by the chess platform. Ha ha ha. That platform just lost my respect. Their engine apparently cannot detect an anomaly (an exception). That is fine. They should have just apologized.

I think we should have a match between Dewa Kipas and Beth Harmon. If you don’t know the name or do not understand the joke, I’d say you know nothing about chess. Ha ha ha. And here is the news … (in Bahasa Indonesia).
